Our Work

What we do

From emergency rescue to community education, our programs address the root causes of animal suffering in Sri Lanka.

Rescue and Treatment

Our three-step approach—Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome—is our immediate solution to alleviate suffering.

The problem

Commercially bred animals are frequently abandoned, neglected or surrendered with severe medical and behavioural needs.

Our approach

We rescue animals in crisis, provide appropriate veterinary treatment and rehabilitation, then carefully place them in suitable homes.

Key activities

  • Rescue animals from cruelty, neglect and abandonment
  • Provide hospitalisation, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation
  • Vaccinate and sterilise rescues where medically appropriate
  • Carefully match animals with suitable homes
  • Conduct regular post-adoption welfare checks

Community Support

We help grassroots caregivers and pet owners access vaccines, sterilisation and lifesaving treatment.

The problem

Grassroots individuals and community groups know and care for the animals around them but do not always have the resources to access veterinary care.

Our approach

We work with local caregivers to provide essential veterinary support while keeping dedicated people and their animals together wherever possible.

Key activities

  • Essential vaccinations for community and stray animals
  • Sterilisation surgeries supporting humane population control
  • Emergency veterinary assistance when funding is available
  • Support for dedicated caregivers during Sri Lanka's economic crisis

Awareness and Advocacy

We expose the hidden cruelties of Sri Lanka's unregulated breeding industry and promote responsible pet ownership.

The problem

A lack of public knowledge, enforceable welfare standards and breeding regulation allows cruelty and exploitation to continue.

Our approach

We combine public communication, humane education and engagement with government and non-governmental organisations.

Key activities

  • Public awareness through social media and storytelling
  • Advocacy for policies and practices that protect animals
  • Engagement with government and non-governmental organisations
  • Responsible pet-ownership education

Humane Education

Age-appropriate programmes build kindness, empathy, responsibility and practical knowledge about animal welfare.

The problem

Much companion-animal neglect and cruelty in Sri Lanka stems from a lack of knowledge about responsible pet ownership.

Our approach

We partner with schools, offices and other organisations to provide structured, age-appropriate education.

Key activities

  • School and workplace humane-education programmes
  • Responsible pet-ownership guidance
  • Knowledge to challenge cruelty and injustice at home and in communities
  • Education built around kindness, empathy and responsibility
